DARMSTADT, Germany — U.S. Army Garrison Darmstadt is encouraging people who are waiting on a passport or birth registration to hold tight until they get a telephone call.

USAG officials closed the Darmstadt passport services office Monday in preparation for the community’s closure this summer.

Outstanding issues, such as the pending receipt of a passport or birth registration, are being handled by the Directorate of Human Resources, according to a community news release.

The office will call applicants as the material arrives.

People who have applied for Social Security cards are being advised to call the Federal Benefits Unit at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt. That phone number is: 069-7535-2440.

Future requests for passports, visas, birth registrations or Status-of-Forces Agreement stamps can be handled by one of Darmstadt’s neighboring communities, such as Heidelberg, Mannheim or Wiesbaden.

Additional information is available at: www.darmstadt.army.mil/closure.html.
