John Rohan at Shield of Achilles ("War, Crime, and Photography") had a good Veteran's Day news round-up from around the globe.

"USA: Obama wants to close Guantanamo and try all detainees in the continental United States. Problem is, what do you do with them after that? After they serve their sentences, they can ask for asylum since it would be "inhumane" to send them back. No other country will want them either. Bottom line: if we do this, we are stuck with them forever."

It is well to remember how many hundreds of Guatanamo detainees have already been released (and how many went on to, again, take up arms against U.S. and Coalition forces); what's left are not the altar boys who were accidentally captured on the way to choir practice.
