re: "Burqa Brouhaha"

EURSOC Three at EURSOC has encouraging news from the Continent.

Money quote(s):

"The story goes like this: a young Moroccan woman who we will call ‘Faiza’, married a French citizen and was allowed to live near Paris. In 2005 her application for French nationality was rejected on the grounds of “lack of assimilation”.

She then went to the top committee of the Conseil d’Etat as her final avenue of appeal. In a landmark judgement the council ruled that she had “Adopted a radical practice of her religion, incompatible with the essential values of the French community, and particularly with the principle of sexual equality”.
