3 Air Force agents killed near Balad on Thursday

BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq — Three active-duty Air Force Office of Special Investigations agents were killed Thursday near Balad Air Base while conducting “law enforcement functions,” the Air Force announced Friday. The names of the airmen are being withheld until their families are notified by the Defense Department. All three were assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations unit at Balad, officials said. The Air Force did not say how the airmen died.
